Renting a van is a simple process! Choose the van that fits your preference (right now, the Eurovan is our only option until Fall of 2024!) and type in preferred dates. Once you've made your selection, proceed to complete the rental agreement, providing necessary information, and book! You'll receive a confirmation email.

The van will be ready for pickup at our shop.  We'll provide you with an orientation at pickup to help. Return the van at the end of the rental period, and we'll take care of the maintenance. <3

Accidents can happen, and we understand that. If you accidentally damage a part of the van, please inform us as soon as possible.  Depending on the extent of the damage, you may incur additional charges. We'll assess the damage and discuss the cost with you.

During orientation, we'll note any previous damage during. Our goal is to ensure you have a positive camping experience!

We think about rental "days" as in a 24-hour period, from the time you pickup during regular working hours.

We want you to enjoy the experience of camping without all the prep work-- just bring clothes & groceries! Our vans are outfitted for your basic camping needs:

• Cookware (pots, pans, utensils, cutting board, knives), place settings for 4,  kettle & assortment of locally-grown teas, & french press for coffee with a bag of Portal West local brew.
• Corkscrew/bottle opener/utility tool
• Tabletop 2-in-one grill & burner with propane (in case you prefer to cook outside on a picnic table)
• Environmentally-friendly soap & cleaning supplies including sweeper and dustpan
• 12 v power inverter
• Camping chairs for up to 4 people
• Small outdoor rug
• Organic bedding & pillows for bottom bed & top bunk
• Organic towels: 4 bath/beach, 2 hand, 2 dish
• Collapsible cooler for extra cooling space (there is a small propane fridge in van)
• Solar Shower (no privacy curtain included)
• Portable tripod camping toilet and two waste bags, just in case. Trash bags also work. If you'd like to purchase more waste bags, you can purchase them here. We'll also supply a small metal spade (for an outdoor latrine).
• Fire extinguisher, first aid kit, car emergency kit
• Fan
• Refillable water jugs

If you prefer to bring your own bedding, towels, cookware, aren't a coffee drinker, won't be using a shower, etc. just let us know and we'll remove anything you don't need so you have space for your own.

All of our vans have seatbelts, sleeping, and place-settings for up to four humans. 

We love dogs!

Dogs are permitted upon request for an additional nonrefundable pet fee & additional pet security deposit. Please see policies for further information. 

Our Eurovan camper is an automatic transmission, so no stick shift knowledge required! 

Our other vanagons do require you are comfortable using a manual transmission (stick shift). 

While some people like to rent the van and just head out and see what emerges, others want a few great suggestions around which they could plan a trip.

Still, others may actually want even more details: itineraries that make it easy to explore a particular spot for a weekend, week, or two weeks.

If you're going to be camping in a popular area (i.e. near a beach in the summer), at any popular destination, or during a high-volume time like a weekend or holiday, we suggest you reserve a camp spot after you reserve the van.

If it's first-come, first-serve campground, have two options ready!

You might also enjoy checking out folks who rent out their land or farms for camping on sites like Hipcamp or Harvest Hosts.

You can also plan to head to a national forest or BDLM land for free dispersed camping-- just be ready for an adventure (and exercise good judgment on access roads).
